    Location: On-site near Bayfield, ON + some work remotely

    EAT LOCAL HURON is looking for an energetic local food lover to support and manage logistics at our warehouse where we receive products from local producers and prepare orders for local customer deliveries. The Executive Director will also continue building and maintaining positive ongoing relationships with producers and customers.

    EAT LOCAL HURON is a not-for-profit online marketplace that is committed to supporting and promoting local farmers and producers by delivering delicious locally sourced food to the doorsteps of Huron County residents. As a new start-up we are looking for passionate and dedicated team members that can keep up with an evolving organization.

    Responsibilities:

    • Receive, input, and properly store product at the warehouse as producers drop them off
    • Open, close, and update the online Local Line store weekly (and as needed throughout the week)
    • Monitor orders as they come in to ensure customers are getting any assistance they need
    • Order and receive wholesale items, meeting these deliveries at our warehouse at times dictated by the delivering company
    • Organize and track inventory weekly
    • Reach out to and recruit local producers
    • Clearly communicate with our Operations Manager to ensure quality of service to both customers and producers is maintained
    • Assist our delivery driver when needed, this may include helping pack the delivery van and being on-call to problem solve on delivery day
    • Communicate with producers by phone and email as needed
    • Maintain website
    • Communicate with Board of Directors on a regular basis, keeping them up to date on how things are going.
    • Attending occasional Board Meetings
    • Occasional product pick-up at various locations around the County
    • Manage Social Media for Eat Local Huron, this may include content creation
    • Creatively thinking of new initiatives to attract customers and following through
    • Weekly management of a small team of packing helpers, offering direction when needed
    • Hiring packing help
    • Pack customer orders carefully and efficiently with your team
    • Provide customer support daily
    • Dispose of packing materials
    • Keep facility clean and uphold food safety standards diligently

    Skills Required:

    • Must have Food Handler’s Certificate (or be able to obtain in timely manner)
    • Must have valid Driver’s License
    • Access to a vehicle
    • Able to lift 40 – 50 lbs
    • Can do active work for a sustained period
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to problem solve and ask for help
    • Efficient, focused, and organized
    • Computer Literacy essential
    • Flexibility to adapt and attend to changing tasks
    • Positive attitude and ability to work well with others
    • Ability to stay calm in a crisis
    • Previous experience with keeping track of inventory considered an asset

    Job Type: Full-time

    Salary: From $45,000.00 per year

    Schedule:

    • 8 hour shift
